How can you make a difference?

Under the general supervision of the Education Manager, and in close consultation with Child Protection Manager, the Programme Specialist will perform the key responsibilities listed below, to strengthen multi-sectoral coordination and integration of child protection in other sectors, primarily but not limited to Education.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

Support to strengthening integration of child protection issues into Education and other sectoral programmes and facilitate multi-sectoral collaboration
Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results
Technical and operational support to programme implementation

Minimum requirements:

Education: An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: international development, education, human rights, psychology, sociology, economics or another relevant social science field.

Work Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience in social development programme planning and management is required.

Proven professional experience in development and management of Child Protection Programme in Emergency, Education in Emergency or multi-sectoral coordination including protection issues is required.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.

Desirables:

Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
Proven experience in large-size programme operations (partnership management with INGOs/CSOs etc., financial and programme implementation management and monitoring) is considered as an asset.
Experience working in a complex emergency with conflict context is considered as an asset.
Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
Data Collection and Analysis: Strong expertise in collecting and analyzing educational and child protection data to assess and understand children’s needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and inform evidence-based decisions for program improvement and educational outcomes.
Reporting Mechanisms: Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing reporting systems for child protection concerns, ensuring confidentiality, compliance with ethical guidelines, and accurate tracking of incidents to facilitate timely responses.
Community-Based Education and Protection Strategies: In-depth knowledge of community-driven strategies to integrate and strengthen child protection in education programs, aimed at raising awareness of children’s rights, promoting safe learning environments, and preventing all forms of violence, exploitation, and abuse.
Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
